Solar Panels for Off-Grid Cabins and Homes in Canada
The Longi LR5-54HPB-410M is a 410 W monocrystalline solar panel with a black frame and a black-on-black look, made for cabins, off-grid homes and homesteads. It is the panel used in three of our complete solar kits. Order the number you need for a new array or to add to an existing one.
What the Longi 410 W panel offers
410 W output and up to 21% module efficiency
54 monocrystalline cells (108 split cells) with Mono-PERC technology
30 mm black aluminum frame and MC4 connectors
1000 V maximum system voltage and a 5400 Pa snow load rating
LONGi lists under 2% first-year degradation, under 0.55% per year after that, and over 84% of original output after 25 years
How many panels do you need?
Divide the array size you want by 410 W. Ten panels give about 4.1 kW and twenty give about 8.2 kW. For reference, the Foundation 48 System uses six panels, the Homestead Core 10k uses twelve and the Energy Sovereign 15K+ uses twenty. To find your target, estimate your daily kWh with our sizing calculator, then compare it with our complete solar kits. Also check how much solar input your inverter accepts: the LuxPower 12 kW, for example, lists up to 18 kW of PV input.
Canadian sun, snow and cold
Winter brings short days and a low sun, so each panel produces much less in December than in June. A few habits help:
Use a steep tilt for winter. Snow slides off more easily and the panels face the low sun.
Keep panels clear of shade from trees and buildings, especially in the middle of the day.
Clear heavy snow gently with a soft brush, never with metal tools.
Cold raises panel voltage. Your electrician must size each string so it stays under the inverter's input limit on the coldest day.
Mounting basics
The panel is sold on its own: racking and mounting hardware are not included. A ground mount is easy to reach for snow clearing and tilt changes. A roof mount saves yard space but is harder to reach in winter. OffGrid Nexus does not install panels. Have a licensed electrician do the wiring, and check with your municipality about permits for ground or roof structures.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add these panels to my existing system?
Often, yes, if your inverter or charge controller has room for more solar input. Send us your inverter model and your current panel specs and we will check the match.
How much will a panel produce in winter?
It depends on your location, tilt, shade and snow cover. Expect far less than in summer: the Alaskanada Kit page shows winter usable energy at well under half of summer. If you live on site all year, size your array for winter.
How are panels shipped?
Panels ship by freight carrier, and shipping is calculated automatically at checkout based on the weight of your order.
