Off-Grid Solar Kits for Canadian Cabins and Homes

Each complete off-grid solar kit pairs Longi solar panels, a Volthium 48V lithium battery bank and a LuxPower inverter with the PV disconnect and cabling to connect them. Compare the four kits below by solar watts, battery storage and best use, from a weekend cabin to a full house with a workshop.

Which kit size fits your property?

  • Weekend cabin or tiny home: The Foundation 48 System uses six 410 W panels (about 2.4 kW) and one 5.1 kWh battery. It is built for lights, a fridge, a laptop and a water pump. The Alaskanada Kit is a similar size, with eight 350 W panels (2.8 kW) and one battery, for cabins, hunting and fishing camps, barns and remote workshops.

  • Year-round home or small farm: The Homestead Core 10k doubles the storage to about 10 kWh and runs a roughly 5 kW array of twelve panels. Its listed loads include a fridge, a freezer, a well pump, a washing machine and power tools.

  • Full house, workshop or several freezers: The Energy Sovereign 15K+ combines twenty panels (about 8 kW), four batteries (20 kWh) and a LuxPower 12 kW inverter, with a combiner box for the larger array.

What comes in a kit

Every kit includes solar panels, Volthium 51.2 V (48 V class) rack-mount batteries, a LuxPower hybrid inverter, a PV disconnect, MC4 solar wiring and inverter cables. The Homestead Core 10k also lists mounting hardware. Racking is not included with the Alaskanada Kit, so plan your ground or roof mount before you order.

Sizing basics and Canadian winters

Start with your daily energy use in kWh. Our off-grid solar sizing calculator helps you add up your loads. Then plan for winter. Short days, low sun and snow on the panels cut production sharply. The Alaskanada Kit page gives a real example: about 6 to 6.5 kWh per day usable in summer, but only 2.2 to 2.7 kWh per day in winter. If you live on site all year, size for December, not July, and keep a generator in your plan for long cloudy stretches.

Why a licensed electrician installs it

A 48 V battery bank and a 240 V split-phase inverter carry serious current. OffGrid Nexus does not offer installation. Hire a licensed electrician to install and connect your kit, and check with your municipality and province about permits and inspections before work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start small and expand later?

Yes. The kits are built on 48 V batteries and LuxPower inverters, so you can add panels or battery modules later. Ask us to confirm that new parts match your inverter and battery before you buy them.

Will a kit run my well pump?

The Foundation 48, Homestead Core 10k and Energy Sovereign 15K+ pages all list a water or well pump among their loads. Pump motors draw a surge when they start, so give us your pump model when you request a plan.

Does the kit include a mounting system?

Not always. Check the components list on each product page, and if racking is not listed, plan your mount with your installer.
