Water Pumps and Constant Pressure Systems
Steady water pressure makes a cabin feel like home. We carry Grundfos SQE submersible well pumps and the CU 302 controller, plus DAB DTRON submersible pumps and E.SYBOX booster systems. Below the products, learn how to choose between a submersible and a booster, read GPM and PSI ratings, and plan for 115V or 230V power.
Submersible or booster pump?
A submersible pump sits in the water. The Grundfos SQE models are submersible well pumps. The DAB DTRON 2 and DTRON 3 are 7-inch submersibles designed for wells and tanks, and the ESYBOX DIVER works in wells, cisterns or tanks.
A booster pump sits on dry ground and pushes water from a tank. The E.SYBOX (2 HP, 230V) and the ESYBOX MINI 3 (1 HP) are compact booster systems with a maximum suction depth of 26 ft. The E.SYTWIN set mounts two E.SYBOX pumps on one docking station for double the flow of a single pump at the same pressure. The two pumps can run together or take turns.
Constant pressure and variable speed
A constant pressure pump changes its speed to match demand, so the shower stays steady when someone opens the kitchen tap. The E.SYBOX uses variable speed electronics with gradual start-up and shutdown. The ESYBOX DIVER comes preset at 43 PSI and adjusts from 14 to 80 PSI. The ESYBOX MINI 3 set point adjusts from 15 to 79 psi.
Grundfos SQE pumps have built-in electronic controls. The CU 302 controller monitors and controls them, but on its own it does not include a pressure sensor. For constant pressure, choose the kit with the transducer. It also has Bluetooth for setup.
Reading GPM and PSI
GPM is flow and PSI is pressure. Each Grundfos model name gives one performance point:
15SQE15-220: 105 psi at 15 GPM
22SQE10-190: 82 psi at 22 GPM
22SQE15-220: 95 psi at 22 GPM
30SQE10-130: 56 psi at 30 GPM
Count the taps and appliances that run at the same time, and remember your filters and UV system must handle the same flow.
115V, 230V and solar power
The DTRON 2 and DTRON 3 run on 115V. The Grundfos SQE pumps are 200-240V, the ESYBOX DIVER and E.SYBOX are 230V, and the ESYBOX MINI 3 is dual voltage, 115V or 230V. On solar, the pump must match your inverter's output, and the inverter must handle the pump's load and start-up. Plan it with our solar sizing calculator, and have a licensed electrician do the wiring.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a pressure tank?
The DTRON and E.SYBOX pumps have an integrated expansion tank, so an external one is not required. For the DTRON, DAB notes that adding one can extend pump life by reducing starts and stops.
Can a booster pump draw from a lake?
The water must be clean and free of solid or abrasive particles, so plan a screened intake and call us to review your setup.
What is the difference between the DTRON 2 and DTRON 3?
Both reach 32.1 GPM and 147 ft of head. The DTRON 3 adds a COM Box that adjusts cut-in pressure and shows pump alarms.
