Vertical Farm Systems with ZipGrow Towers
Grow more food in less floor space by growing up instead of out. ZipGrow towers mount on a wall or stand on a rolling rack, and a submersible pump feeds them water and nutrients. Choose a 4-tower or 8-tower Farm Wall for a kitchen or business, or the Education Rack for a classroom.
How ZipGrow towers work
Each tower is a vertical column filled with growing media and wicking strips. Plants grow along the face of the tower instead of in rows on the ground. A submersible pump sends water and nutrients up, and the water flows down past the roots and is reused. The Farm Walls come with a drip irrigation system, PVC gutters, wicking strips and wall-mount hardware.
Space and lighting
4-Tower Farm Wall: 4 towers, a minimum of 40 plants per cycle, with 38-inch gutters.
8-Tower Farm Wall: 8 towers, a minimum of 80 plants per cycle, with 78.5-inch gutters.
ZipGrow Education Rack: a rack on wheels with eight 5-ft towers and 4 LED lights per side, 27 in. deep x 80 in. long x 77 in. high.
The Education Rack includes its LED lights. On the Farm Walls, LED light kits are optional and sold separately. Beside a bright window you may need less light, but in a basement, or in a classroom in January, plan on adding the kits.
Scaling up
Start small and add capacity as you learn. The Farm Walls can be expanded by linking systems together. A small market farm can begin with one wall of salad greens and herbs, then add more as sales grow. For an off-grid farm, plan the extra pump and lighting load with our solar sizing calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Education Rack fit through a classroom door?
Yes. It is designed to fit through a standard classroom door frame and rolls on wheels. Assembly takes about an hour. FlexiPlugs are not included.
Are nutrients included?
Each system ships with a starter supply: a bottle of nutrients with the 4-Tower Farm Wall, a bottle of A and B nutrients with the 8-Tower Farm Wall, and Dyna-Gro Foliage-Pro liquid nutrient with the Education Rack. You will reorder as you go.
Who are these systems for?
The Farm Walls are made for classrooms, kitchens and businesses, and suit STEM, culinary and sustainability programs. The Education Rack is built for teachers and students growing leafy greens and herbs in class.
